Check out the latest “Technique of the Week” from Evolve University’s world class boxing program.  In this video, WBA Boxing World Champion Yodsanan Sityodtong teaches a vicious boxing combination that is almost guaranteed to end in a highlight reel KO.  After attacking the body with a flurry of punches, Yodsanan moves up to the head and then back to the body before ending the combination with a powerful knockout right hook.  The best boxers in the world are able to constantly change levels and attack from a variety of angles.  This combination by Yodsanan is a perfect example of just that.  Study this video very carefully and then get to work on mastering it.

In order to accommodate busy schedules, we offer multiple boxing classes throughout the day, usually in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Each class will run for 1 hour in duration. All classes will begin with a group warm up session. The warm up will include some light calisthenics and skipping rope. This is to prepare the body for a vigorous training session as well as prevent unnecessary injuries during training.

Students skipping rope to warm up before training.

At the conclusion of the warm up, the instructor will lead the class through some shadow boxing and line drills. The instructor will call out a cadence of punches and movements for the students to follow. After the shadow boxing and line drills, students will have the opportunity to hit boxing mitts, train on the heavy bag, and learn specific techniques and combinations.

The boxing classes at Evolve MMA are divided into Level 1 and Level 2. All beginner students at Evolve will start in a Level 1 class, which focuses on a mastery of the fundamentals and basic techniques of boxing. You will learn the basic boxing stance and correct movement from within the boxing stance. The mechanics of the basic punches such as the jab, cross, uppercut, and hook will be covered in great detail. You will also learn basic defensive techniques and very simple punching combinations.

Once you have demonstrated a mastery of the Boxing Level 1 curriculum, the instructor will award you with advancement to Level 2. Advancement is based entirely on the instructor team’s discretion and takes into account mastery of skills, conditioning, work ethic, consistency, and general attitude towards training. In Level 2 training, you are expected to maintain a higher level of focus and train with a higher level of intensity. You will continue fine-tuning your current skills as well as adding new ones. You will have the opportunity to participate in freestyle mitt sessions with your instructor and learn to string together longer and more technical punching combinations.

Students train under the watchful eye of World Champion instructor, Yodsanan Sityodtong.

For the more advanced boxing students, we also hold sparring sessions. The sparring sessions will allow you to test your skills in a live boxing setting. Students will have the opportunity to compete against each other in boxing rounds. These sessions are by instructor invitation only, and they are very closely monitored by the instructor team to ensure the student’s safety. Protective mouth guards and headgears are mandatory.

ONE FC light heavyweight superstar, Jake Butler, puts on protective gear before a sparring session.

For those students who wish to really dedicate themselves to the sweet science of boxing, we offer the Evolve MMA Boxing Competition Team. Tryouts for the team are held periodically throughout the year. The tryouts are always very well attended, and the instructors are very selective in who they invite to join the team. Members of the team are given access to private team training sessions, and they are encouraged to compete in boxing competitions. This team caters to most the passionate and dedicated boxing students.

Members of the Evolve MMA Competition Team may train alongside ONE FC superstars like Eddie Ng.

Evolve Competition Team members will rub shoulders with MMA World Champions like Shinya Aoki.

To get started on your boxing training at Evolve MMA, head on over to your nearest Evolve MMA location in Singapore or call in to arrange a complimentary free trial with one of our World Champion instructors. All introductory classes are 30 minutes and can be scheduled at your convenience. Consider this your test-drive for the complete Evolve MMA experience.
